Finance Committee

Along with the Deacons and the Treasurer, to meet monthly to review the financial statement, review all spending requests and with the Stewardship Committee of the Deacon's prepare a budget to present to the Deacons, Elders and Congregation.

 

Strengthening of the Church/Christian Education

Meets with Deacons, and representatives from the congregation and oversees Sunday School, WATCH, Vacation Bible School, Youth, Extended Session, Teacher Appreciation, Nursery, PreSchool, Teacher recruitment and Library.

 

Mission Committee

To work with the Deacons and representatives from the congregation, to assist the congregation to become aware of missions-both foreign and domestic: to recommend funding for specific ministries and to aid in preparing the annual budget of the church. The mission committee is to report-when possible--on the work locally of Children's Cheer and Toy Shop, the Hendrick House, Crossroads Gospel Mission, Hope House and the Serenity House.

 

Buildings & Property Committee
Diaconate: Scott Johnson, Doug Hall, Tom Holman
Staff: Hugh Ward

Oversees general maintenance of church properties including the main campus, the Toy Shop, the Hendrick House, the Child Advocacy Center, and the Covenant Counseling Center; directs the projects of the capital campaign; oversees activities of maintenance man.

 

Grounds Committee
Diaconate: Derrick Thornton, Susan Pearson
Staff: Hugh Ward

Oversees regular care of church grounds as well as grounds of other church properties; secures grounds maintenance company to perform regular maintenance of church grounds and directs special projects as needed.

 

Covenant Counseling Center
Session: Brooks Sheldon, Gary Lodge, Jim Keith
Diaconate: Susan Pearson, Derrick Thornton
Staff: Hugh Ward

Along with the Center's Board and Staff oversees the work of CCc. One Elder serves as chair of the CCC Board. Quarterly reports are made to the Session.

 

Congregational Care and Evangelism

To continue a program of evangelism, to encourage visitation of members, shut-ins, inactive members, to follow-up on visitors and new members and to encourage the replenishing of the freezer with food for 1amilies/individuals with special needs.

 

Worship Committee
Entire Session, Ginger Horkan

To assist the Congregation and the Session in preparing for waorship, including: preaching, the Sacraments, music (Choral, organ, piano, hymns), Weddings, Funerals and Special Services.

 

Personnel Committee

To provide for annual employee reviews, to interview and recommend new employees (other than the pastor) and to assist in writing job descriptions as necessary.

 

Nomination/Scholarship Committee

The Nominating Committee meets in the early fall in preparation for a called Congregational Meeting to elect Elders and Deacons. The Scholarship Committee selects candidates to receive scholarships from the Westbrook/Leverett Scholarship Fund.

 

Children's Advocacy Center
Staff: Hugh Ward, Jeri Croyle

To attend the monthly meetings (fourth Thursday, 1:00 P.M.) Report to the Session an congregation on the work of the Center.

 

Long-range Planning/Officer's Retreat

Five year projections on the needs of the church: personnel, buildings and programs. Annual officer retreat.
